OVERVIEW
BRIEF:
The local charity "Every Life Matters", supporting mental health and suicide awareness came to myself and 3 other designers I know to design a new sub-brand, specifically aimed at educating younger people on the topics of mental health in an age appropriate way.
My job was as the illustrator/ animator- being responsbile for character design, animating and other visual assets that are not function based, all to be used in power points, online or other training based media.

From our initial meeting with the clients, we came onto several core concepts of iconography- with the designers handling the more subtle motis, I was responsible along with my collaborator Luke, to create characters, that I would then make into an animation.
I researched and developed ideas around a phone character, while the others worked on the branding and style. this is why this portion is more message focused, rather than stylistic.
After working on the messaging, I then converted some of Luke's sketches into animatable characters
I then experimented with animating them using help from the video below
We werent happy with the character, so developed more, while working on animation stylisation
Eventually I pushed the idea of the phone character, and sketched out some ideas for what we could do with them.
Everyone was happy with this, so we pushed forwards with animating them using the storyboards we already had. The animation pitch to see if it worked was focusing on the mental health impact of caffeine.
The animation we pitched to the client
The client was happy with the pitch, and is coming back to us with more animation pitches they want us to focus on, but for now that is where we are at...
